Al-Amin Miah: The Man Who Runs for Bangladesh

The Bold Dreamer

Md. Al-Amin Miah runs marathons with a slogan “Run for Bangladesh,” while juggling a media job at Jamuna TV. Ordinary man on paper, extraordinary story on the track. Al-Amin has always been bold by nature. Helpful to everyone around him, yet restless inside. His job in media was busy and draining, but it wasn’t enough to cage his spirit. He wanted more. He wanted movement. And he found it on the open road.

His training didn't start fancy. No track for him. Just the streets of his hometown. He was bulky back then. Not into fitness at all. Running was his simple fix to stay fit. It gave him a break from the daily grind of his job. He didn’t come from a sporting family. No formal training. No background in elite running. Yet he kept showing up, one step at a time. Running gave him peace. Then it gave him a purpose.

Deciding to run a full marathon was huge for him. It demanded more than stamina. His whole life had to change. He ditched quick fast food grabs from his busy work days. Instead, he stuck to a strict diet. Wholesome meals became his norm. He had to build endurance, not just for his body, but for his entire life. Every mile was a lesson in discipline. Every run was a test. Slowly, the man who once jogged to stay fit became a marathoner in the making.

Al-Amin didn’t do it alone. His strongest teammate is his wife. Forget medals, her support is his greatest prize. She prepared his meals with the right balance. She cheered when he was drained. She pushed him out the door when he thought of quitting. When he's hurt, she's right there. Without her push, he'd never have started. Al-Amin admits it: their partnership is not just about crossing finish lines. It’s about respect, love, and chasing a dream together.

The Marathons Begin

Soon, Al-Amin’s life was filled with race bibs and finish lines. His resume boasts international marathons: Ladakh Marathon 2022, Dooars Run Safari 2.0 in the same year, the World 10K Bangalore 2023, Tata Mumbai Marathon 2023, Sydney Marathon 2024, Brighton Marathon 2024,

TCS Sydney Marathon 2025 and Los Angeles Marathon 2025. Plus loads of local and virtual races. He even made his own slogan: ‘Run for Bangladesh’. Simple, clear, and powerful.

Running stopped being a hobby. It became a mission. Each race was more than miles–it was representation. Al-Amin wore the Bangladesh jersey proudly. At home and abroad, he became a flag-bearer.

Sydney wasn’t just another marathon. A World Marathon Major. A dream for runners everywhere. And for Al-Amin, it was the toughest test of his life. The city’s iconic harbor views and historic streets gave a beautiful backdrop. But beauty doesn’t carry you for 42.195km. Sweat and pain do.

As he pushed deeper into the race, his body began to scream. Legs heavy. Mind begging to stop. The euphoria of the start was gone. Fatigue ruled. Quitting whispered in his ears. But then he thought of two things. His wife, waiting, believing. And his country, the red-green flag in his hand. That was enough.

Step after step, he fought through the agony. And in the final stretch, it wasn’t just a runner crossing the line. It was a man carrying Bangladesh across with him. Champion or not, he had won in the eyes of all who watched.

More Than Sport

Al-Amin's story shows it’s not just marathons. It’s about life. Anyone stuck in a routine can change. Even with a nine-to-five job, he balances work, family, and training. He shows that discipline can break limits. That support can carry dreams. And that passion, once found, can reshape everything.

People in his community see him as proof. Proof that dreams aren’t just for athletes or the privileged. Ordinary workers, students, professionals–anyone can lace up and run their own race. He’s inspired dozens already.

The message is always the same: life isn’t about victories, it’s about the process. About showing up. About moving forward. He’s not chasing fame. He’s chasing the finish line. And in doing so, he’s leading a movement. A movement of ordinary heroes who refuse to stay ordinary.

Al-Amin’s next big leap is Ironman 70.3–a race that demands swimming, cycling, and running all in one.
